Casual, yet modern farmhouse kitchen

These empty nesters were looking to transform their kitchen from a family hub into an elegant and mature space for entertaining. The couple chose a trendy, fun colour palette of warm, white upper cabinets that balanced against lower cabinets and a giant island with beautiful grey and green undertones.

The large island helped accomplish this vision, extending the cohesive beauty of the cabinetry, adding storage space and seating, and creating a comfortable, ergonomic workspace for cooking and baking.

A casual, yet modern farmhouse vibe was created by incorporating warm barn wood, which was intentionally integrated throughout the kitchen – you'll notice it in the handcrafted barn door and window trim. The homeowner's son works in Northern Ontario and often brings home unique pieces of wood which we incorporated into the space to add sentimentality for the clients.

Open concept, loads of storage

These homeowners dreamt of an open-concept kitchen, which meant removing lots of small walls to open and enlarge the space. Doubling the storage space was important to the owners, and we accomplished this by thoughtfully designing cabinetry to maximize the footprint of the room.

The wood-tone island is a stark contrast with the white upper and lower cabinets, a design element that purposefully draws the eye in while enlarging the space. Different cabinet and drawer configurations throughout each area of the kitchen balance functionality with aesthetics.

Our quality workmanship is evident everywhere you look - from the dovetail drawers to the soft close cupboards (and drawers), to the ingenuity inherent in the easy-glide space savers. Here, everything has a place and the smallest details combine to make a big impression.

Innovative millwork with technology built-in

Symmetry and technology were the directional forces behind this project. The layout was designed with cohesiveness in mind. Larger features like the walk-in-pantry and panel-ready appliances achieved the vision with clean cabinets along one feature wall.

Finer details added to the symmetry including the oversized hood range and custom cutlery drawer inserts, which we incorporated to keep the drawers looking clean and organized.

Can you spot the hidden technology embedded throughout this kitchen? From motion light-activated garbage pull-outs to toe kick drawers that open with a soft touch of your foot (and are ideal for pet food bowls), we loved creating the innovative millwork that dots the landscape of this kitchen.

Details make the design

Looking to increase the flexibility and flow of this kitchen, for a busy family, details were paramount. From unique glass door elements to raised mouldings on the cupboard doors and drawers to inlaid cabinets. We made this kitchen feel like home with custom details that met the goals of the project while also reflecting the personality of the homeowners.

Classic white with lots
of storage

We celebrate the differences of each project, and with this kitchen, our clients had a clear vision: classic white, and a clear goal: lots of storage!

We delivered on both fronts, optimizing this kitchen with innovative solutions to provide ample storage everywhere you look, including a hidden door for a butler's pantry and kick plates that are drawers!

The custom shelving within the island and built-in next to the stove were designed to keep this busy family organized while ensuring balanced, clean lines that help complete the kitchen’s transitional design.

The glass cabinets beside the fridge feature cross-hatched detailing that amplify the classic and transitional look of this space. The role that each detail plays in the function and design of this kitchen was carefully considered at the inception and throughout each stage of the renovation.

Maximize space and functionality

Prior to the renovation, this kitchen was exceptionally small because it was chopped up into several rooms.

We maximized space by designing cabinets that stand extra tall to showcase the high ceilings and add elegance.

From the luxurious kitchen island to the bank of drawers under the microwave, we thoughtfully created visual interest and functionality in every corner of this kitchen.
